FresherResume · Updated September 2026
Hotels hire freshers by department, so a hotel management resume works best when it is aimed at one: front office, food and beverage service, housekeeping or the kitchen. The hiring manager wants to see your course, and above all your industrial training: which hotel, which department, for how long, and what you actually handled. This page gives you a front office sample and a kitchen sample, eight career objectives for different hotel jobs, skills grouped by department, and the documents to keep ready.
What to write, in this order
- 1
Name and contact: Full name, phone number (also on WhatsApp), email and city. Use a professional email address.
- 2
Career objective: Two lines aimed at one department (front office, F&B service, housekeeping or kitchen) and the kind of property you want. Pick one from the objectives below.
- 3
Education: Your hotel management degree or diploma, institute, years and marks, then 12th.
- 4
Industrial training: This is your main experience. Write the hotel, city, department, dates or number of weeks, and the tasks you handled. Add the star category only if it is correct.
- 5
Skills: Skills for your target department first, then guest service, communication and any software you used.
- 6
Certificates and activities: Food safety training, first aid, competitions, events you helped run. Only list what you have.
- 7
Languages: English and Hindi, and any other language. Languages matter in guest-facing hotel jobs.
- 8
Personal details and declaration: Date of birth and address, plus a one-line declaration with place, date and signature.

Mistakes that get Hotel Management Fresher resumes ignored
- Not writing your industrial training properly. Hotel, department, duration and tasks are what a hotel manager wants to see.
- Listing all four departments as equal strengths. Aim the resume at one department per application.
- Writing a star category or a hotel brand you did not work in.
- Only saying "hard-working" and "team player". Say what you handled: check-ins, covers served, rooms cleaned, dishes prepared.
- Listing software you never used. Name a PMS or billing system only if you have used it.
- No language details. Guest-facing roles need good spoken English, and other languages help.
- An informal photo or informal email address. Use a neat, formal photo and a professional email.
Frequently asked questions
How should I write my industrial training on a hotel management resume?
Write the hotel, city, department, dates or number of weeks, and two to four tasks you handled. Add the hotel's star category only if it is correct. This is a fresher's main experience.
Which department should I target as a fresher?
Pick the one you trained in and enjoy: front office, F&B service, housekeeping or kitchen. Make a separate version of the resume for each department you apply to.
How long is a hotel management course?
Hotel management degrees such as BHM and BHMCT usually run three to four years depending on the institute and curriculum, and include industrial training. Write your own institute, years and marks.
Do I need to know hotel software such as Opera?
Only mention a hotel property management system (such as Opera) if you have used it during training. Many hotels also train new joiners, so do not claim skills you do not have.
Should I add a photo?
Hotels may ask for one. If the job ad or recruiter asks, add a small, neat, formal passport-size photo.
Should I write my expected salary?
No. Leave salary out of the resume and discuss it at the interview, unless a form specifically asks for it.
