FresherResume · Updated September 2026

Schools read a teacher's resume for four things: your teaching qualification (B.Ed, D.El.Ed or similar), whether you have cleared TET or CTET, which subjects and classes you can teach, and what you actually did during teaching practice. A fresher's strongest section is the internship, so describe it in detail. This page gives you a sample for a primary teacher (PRT) and one for a subject teacher (TGT), eight career objectives for different school jobs, a skills list, and the documents to carry to an interview.

What to write, in this order

  1. 1

Name and contact: Full name, phone number (also on WhatsApp), email and city. Use a professional email address.

  2. 2

Career objective: Two lines: the post (PRT, TGT, nursery, tutor), the classes or subject, and one strength. Pick one from the objectives below.

  3. 3

Teaching qualification and TET/CTET: B.Ed, D.El.Ed or B.El.Ed with institute, year and marks. Then your CTET or state TET: paper, year, roll number and score.

  4. 4

Subject and classes: The subjects and class levels you are qualified to teach, and the board (CBSE, ICSE or state).

  5. 5

Teaching practice or experience: School, classes, subjects, dates, and what you did: lesson plans, tests, extra help, activities. This is a fresher's main section.

  6. 6

Education: Graduation or post-graduation, 12th and 10th, with board or university, year and percentage.

  7. 7

Skills: Lesson planning, classroom management, and the tools you actually use, such as PowerPoint and Google Classroom.

Mistakes that get Fresher Teacher resumes ignored

  • Not writing the classes and subjects you can teach. "Teacher" alone does not say if you can fit a PRT or TGT vacancy.
  • Leaving out TET or CTET. It is a key requirement for teaching Classes I to VIII, so show paper, year and score.
  • Describing teaching practice in one line. This is a fresher's main experience, so list lessons, classes, tests and activities.
  • Listing a qualification but not the board or university.
  • Generic words like "hard-working" and "dedicated" instead of things you did in a classroom.
  • Applying for a post you are not eligible for, such as a PGT post without a post-graduation degree and B.Ed. Read the vacancy notice.
  • Writing expected salary on the resume. Discuss it at the interview.

Frequently asked questions

Is the CTET certificate valid for life?

According to the CTET public notice dated 21 June 2021, the validity of the CTET qualifying certificate is now lifetime, and this applies to earlier certificates too. State TET rules can differ, so check the notice for your state.

What is the difference between PRT, TGT and PGT?

PRT is a primary teacher (Classes I-V), TGT is a trained graduate teacher (about Classes VI-X) and PGT is a post graduate teacher (Classes XI-XII). Exact qualifications differ by school board and state, so read the vacancy notice before applying.

I have no teaching experience. What do I write?

Use your teaching practice or internship as your experience: school, classes, subjects, and what you did (lesson plans, tests, extra help, activities). Do not invent a job.

Should I mention CTET if I have not cleared it yet?

Only write "Appearing" with the exam session if that is true. Do not write a score or roll number you do not have.

How long should a teacher resume be?

One page for a fresher. Use plain headings and no tables so it opens cleanly on a phone and prints well.

Should I write my expected salary?

No. Leave salary out of the resume and discuss it at the interview, unless an application form specifically asks for it.
