FresherResume · Updated September 2026

A data entry resume is judged on three things: how fast and accurate you are, which software you can really use, and whether you can be trusted with records. Private employers want to see typing speed and Excel skills. Government posts often add computer certificates and a typing test. This page gives you a fresher sample and an experienced sample, eight career objectives for different data entry jobs, a skills list grouped by type of work, and the documents to keep ready.

What to write, in this order

  1. 1

Name and contact: Full name, phone number (also on WhatsApp), email and city. Use a professional email address.

  2. 2

Career objective: Two lines: the kind of data entry job you want and one strength such as accuracy or speed. Pick one from the objectives below.

  3. 3

Computer qualifications and typing: List your computer course (CCC, DCA, O Level or similar) with institute and year, and your typing speed. Write only a speed you can reach in a real test.

  4. 4

Experience or training: Employer, role, dates, and the kind of data you entered and where (Excel, Tally, company software). Freshers describe a project or training task.

  5. 5

Software skills: Name the software and what you do in it, for example Excel sorting and VLOOKUP, not just "MS Office".

  6. 6

Education: Highest qualification first, with board or university, year and percentage.

  7. 7

Languages and personal details: Hindi and English, Hindi typing if you can, date of birth and address.

  8. 8

Declaration: A one-line declaration with place, date and signature.

Mistakes that get Data Entry Operator resumes ignored

  • Writing a typing speed you have never tested. Employers and government exams check it, so a false number hurts you.
  • Listing only "MS Office" and "computer knowledge". Name the software and what you do in it.
  • Typing errors in the resume itself. For this job, a spelling mistake in your own resume is a warning sign.
  • Claiming "Excel expert" when you cannot use formulas or pivot tables. Interviewers often give a small Excel test.
  • No mention of accuracy or how you check your work.
  • Not tailoring the objective: a government post and a BPO role ask for different things.
  • A long resume. One page is enough for a fresher.

Frequently asked questions

What typing speed should I write on my resume?

Write the speed you can actually reach in a test, in words per minute. Government data entry posts are often tested in key depressions per hour (SSC's data entry operator test uses 8,000, and some offices ask for 15,000), so check the notice for the post you are applying to.

Do I need a CCC or DCA certificate for a data entry job?

Private jobs mainly check your typing and Excel skills. Some government posts ask for a computer certificate such as NIELIT's CCC, so read the vacancy notice. If you have a certificate, list it with the institute and year.

I am a fresher. What do I write under experience?

Use a heading like Projects / Training. Describe one real task: what data you entered, in which software, and how you checked it. Do not invent a company.

Should I mention Hindi typing?

Yes, if you can type in Hindi (Kruti Dev or Unicode) and have tested your speed. It helps for government and regional-language data entry work.

How long should a data entry resume be?

One page for a fresher, and up to two pages if you have several years of experience with different employers. Use plain text and no tables.

Should I write my expected salary?

No. Leave salary out of the resume and discuss it at the interview, unless an application form specifically asks for it.
