How FresherResume protects your personal data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023

FresherResume is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of our users in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023 enacted by the Government of India. This page explains what data we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and your rights as a data principal. We process your personal data only for the purpose of providing our resume building service, and we do not sell, share, or monetize your personal data with third parties for advertising purposes.

What Data We Collect

  • Account information: name, email address, and password (hashed)
  • Resume content: the information you enter into the resume builder (education, skills, experience, projects)
  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, and session duration for improving our service
  • Payment data: processed securely through Razorpay — we do not store your card or UPI details
  • Device data: browser type, operating system, and screen resolution for compatibility

How We Protect Your Data

  • All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3 (HTTPS)
  • Passwords are hashed using bcrypt — we cannot see your password
  • Database hosted on Neon (PostgreSQL) with encryption at rest
  • Application deployed on Vercel with enterprise-grade security infrastructure
  • No third-party analytics trackers — we use minimal, privacy-respecting analytics
  • HTTP-only cookies for authentication — not accessible via JavaScript

Your Rights Under DPDP Act 2023

  • Right to Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
  • Right to Correction: Update or correct any inaccurate personal data
  • Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Right to Grievance Redressal: Contact our Data Protection Officer for any concerns
  • Right to Nominate: Nominate another person to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity

Data Retention & Deletion

  • Resume data is retained as long as your account is active
  • You can delete individual resumes at any time from your dashboard
  • Account deletion removes all personal data within 30 days
  • Payment records are retained for 7 years as required by Indian tax law
  • To delete your account, email support@fresherresume.in with subject 'Account Deletion Request'

Consent & Legal Basis

By creating an account on FresherResume, you consent to the collection and processing of your personal data as described on this page. This consent is given freely and can be withdrawn at any time by deleting your account.

We process your data on the following legal bases under the DPDP Act:

  • Consent: For account creation, resume building, and service communication
  • Legitimate Use: For service operation, security, and fraud prevention
  • Legal Obligation: For payment records retention as required by Indian tax law

Children's Data

FresherResume is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under 18 years of age. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us at support@fresherresume.in and we will promptly delete the account and associated data.
